The Sickle asterism if made of the bright stars that form the front of the constellation of Leo (the lion). After the Big Dipper it is the most recognizable asterism visible in the spring sky of the northern hemisphere. The base of the handle contains the bright blue start Regulus which is also the heart of Leo the lion. The shape resembles a backwards question mark or a sickle farm implement. It is only part of the grouping of stars that make up the entire constellation.
