The use of the prefix ''tri'' in ''trihydride'' tells us there are three hydrogen atoms in the compound. In this case, nitrogen doesn't have a prefix telling us there is only one nitrogen atom in the compound. Nitrogen trihydride is the chemical name for ammonia.
