Amino acids are to proteins as nucleotides are to nucleic acids.
Amino acids are the monomers of the polypeptide chain that are synthesised during the translation process from the mRNA. The basic structure of all the amino acids is the same. They contain a carbon atom at the middle and three chemical bases along with a differing R group,
Nucleotides are the monomers of the nucleic acid. They are composed of three parts namely sugar molecule,  nitrogenous bases and a phosphate molecule.
