What is the difference between friend's dog and friends' dog ?

Friend's dog means the dog belongs to ONE friend.
Friends' dog means the dog belongs to MULTIPLE (2+) friends.

Example:
This is my friend's dog - her name is Becky.
This is my friends' dog - it belongs to Becky AND Tim.
