The North Korean army was winning the war. The Soviet Union had supplied the North Korean army with modern tanks, planes, artillery and automatic rifles. The well armed and well trained North Korean army had driven the South Korean army down the paeisula and were near complete victory.
The US and United Nations armies executed a daring amphibous landing at lnchon behind the North Korean lines. The allied troops reconquered Seoul and cut the North Korean army off from their supply lines. Without fuel, ammunition, medical supplies and food, the North Korean army was effectively destroyed.
After the landing at lnchon the US and United Nations forces rapidly captured most of North Korean. Only the intervention Chinese troops prevented the complete collapse of North Korean.
